FYI,

No-one including the Zimbabweans want Zim dollars so we will pay in USD or Rand while there. Therefore when converting your money, even for Zim use the SA Rand exchange rate.

Also in Zim, we can pay for most stuff in USD and I am sure this will be the preferred currency of the locals. When going to the curio markets plan to bargain and take some smaller bills but FYI, they are not interested in $1's as it costs too much to change at the bank for them... Try to take mostly 5's and some 10's and some 20's.

I usually take SA Rand as it works out cheaper to bargain with, however with all your thick US accents you will be prevailed upon for USD. My home advantage is that I sound south african to the locals so i can get away with it....
